Which Parallettes Do You Need for Calisthenics?
Parallettes are one of the most versatile tools for bodyweight training. You can use them for push-ups, L-sits, planche progressions, handstand work and many core exercises. But which size and style is best for your training?
Low versus high parallettes
Low parallettes are compact, stable and easy to take with you. They work especially well for push-ups, L-sits and planche work. Higher parallettes create more clearance for movements where your body drops farther below your hands, but they also take up more space.
Wood or metal?
Wooden grips feel natural for many athletes and can offer a comfortable surface without feeling extremely cold or slippery. Metal can also be strong and durable, but grip comfort depends on the coating and diameter. In practice, grip, stability and construction quality matter more than material alone.
Look for stability
For calisthenics, you want parallettes that stay stable during presses and planche lean drills. Check that the base sits firmly and the construction has no unwanted movement. Always test new equipment gradually before using it for harder progressions.
What size works well at home?
A compact set around 25 cm is useful for home, outdoor and travel training. It fits easily into a small training space and works for many basic exercises and skill progressions.

What can you train with parallettes?
Start with elevated push-ups, support holds and tuck L-sits. Then progress toward planche leans, advanced L-sit variations and handstand drills. The biggest advantage of parallettes is how many movements you can train with one compact setup.
TRAIN ANYWHERE. PROGRESS WITH CONTROL.
